Learn to Roller Ski

Roller skiing skills will be developed through play activities, challenges, relays, and practice. Participants will develop agility, balance, technique, and confidence roller skiing. Sessions will also include some dryland strengthening, speed, coordination and flexibility, and some optical biathlon.

 

No previous roller skiing experience is required. However, participants must have completed Jackrabbits Level 4 or at least one year of Track Attack, or have comparable basic skate skiing ability.

 

Sessions will be offered on Tuesday evenings. Come to as many sessions as you like, pre-registration is required.

 

Ages

Minimum age = 10 (Born in 2014 or older)

 

Parent Involvement

Parents of kids born in 2008-2014 who are interested in helping coach this winter can join free to learn how to roller ski. Parents who don’t want to roller ski are welcome to bring their bikes to escort the group around the loop, or to assist implementing the dryland training and optical biathlon shooting.

McArthur Island, meet at Kamloops Sports Council parking lot.

 

Cost

$5 per session registration fee.

 

What to Bring

Participants need to bring skate boots, skate poles, bike helmet, gloves, and layers of athletic wear. Overlander will provide the roller skis.
