Coach Training    

 

Overlander Ski Club supports the development of well trained ski coaches and as such encourages all coaches to develop their coaching potential. 

 

Coaches must have completed the Introduction to Community Coaching workshop in order to supervise, instruct or coach ski activities for children six years of age and younger, or assist with the supervising, instructing or coaching of ski activities for children six to sixteen years of age.

Overlander Ski Club covers the cost of coaching courses for club members in return for coaching - ask the coaching coordinator for further details.

 

If our skiers are to get the most out of the Skill Development Program (Bunnies, Jackrabbits and Track Attack), we need to develop our skills as coaches by continual upgrading through refresher courses, NCCP courses and CCBC courses.  Click here for more information on what is available from CCBC.

Learning to Train - Dryland Workshop April 18-20, 2008

16 hours. Prerequisite: Trained Community Coach Includes roller skiing and other dryland activities, athlete development, nutrition, planning a practice session etc. Workshop fee is normally $85 and subsidized by "SportsFunder Lottery Funds" for 75% per participant.  Therefore each participant will need to pay 25% ($21.25). 

                                               

 

Learning to Train - On Snow Workshop - Winter 2008 - Date to be finalised

16 hours. Essential training for coaches delivering a well-rounded sport program with a skill development emphasis to children ten to twelve years old. Includes opportunity for coaches to work on improving their technique as well as coaching techniques for teaching children.
